Side Hustle: Class-Action Lawsuits and Settlement Money
With the holidays right around the corner, it could it a great time to check open lawsuits and see if you are eligible to submit a claim. Some of you might be asking, what is a class action lawsuit. A “class-action lawsuit” is one in which a group of people with the same or similar injuries caused by the same product or action sue the defendant as a group. If the court approves the settlement, eligible consumers like you and me could qualify for a small settlement. In some cases, receipts are required but this is not always the case. I always recommend checking open class-action lawsuits yearly and applying for the ones you qualify for.
There are three simple steps to follow when filing a claim for a class action lawsuit:
- Find products you purchased:
Take a look at the open settlements links below for products you may have purchased. One of my favorite ways of checking these is subscribing to http://www.classaction.org. You will get automatic e-mails every time there is a settlement opportunity.

- Fill out the form:
Once you found a settlement you qualify for, click the link and fill out the form!
- Get your check in the mail!
Once they review your form and approve you, a check will be delivered to the address you provided. Most claim checks are mailed 1-2 months after the claim has been filed.
That’s it!! It’s that easy to make extra money on the side. Happy settlement hunting!
